Prof Nigel Jepson

Consultant Cardiologist
Prof Nigel Jepson is a Senior Staff Specialist and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories of the Eastern Heart Clinic at the Prince of Wales Public Hospital. He is also Director of the institution’s Clinical Trials Unit and holds the position of Conjoint Professor with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales. Nigel graduated from the University of Tasmania and completed clinical and interventional fellowships at Harefield Hospital in London and the POWH in Sydney. Beyond intervention, he enjoys working with patients in both prevention and treatment of the diverse spectrum of cardiac disorders. Nigel also has a sub-specialty interest in cardiovascular assessment for scuba divers.

Dr Con Arronis
MBBS(Syd) FRACP DDU FCSANZ FASE MBEth Consultant Cardiologist
Dr Con Arronis is a consultant cardiologist at the Prince of Wales Hospital and provides outpatient care at Bondi Cardiology. He specialises in cardiac imaging, with particular expertise in trans-oesophageal echocardiography and cardiac CT. Dr Arronis completed post- fellowship training in both Sydney and London (Royal Brompton). He is a fellow of the American society of Echocardiography, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. His academic credentials include a Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound (Aust. and NZ), Board Certification in Echocardiography (USA) and Certification in CT coronary angiography (Royal Australian and NZ College of Radiologists). Additionally, he holds a Master of Bioethics from the University of Sydney and serves as a member of the South-Eastern Area Health District Clinical Ethics Committee.

Dr Katherine Ellenberger
FRACP MBBS
Consultant Cardiologist
Dr Katy Ellenberger is an imaging cardiologist who specialises in advanced cardiac imaging, including CTCA, cardiac MRI and advanced echocardiography. Her passions are preventative cardiology, women's cardiovascular health and heart failure. Dr Katy Ellenberger graduated with an MB BS from Western Sydney University in 2012. She completed post graduate specialty training in Cardiology at Nepean Hospital, and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. She completed further subspecialty fellowship training in advanced echocardiography (Prince of Wales Hospital), and cardiac CT and cardiac MRI (St Vincents Hospital Sydney). Dr Ellenberger has the highest level of CTCA accreditation. She enjoys teaching cardiac CT to other cardiologists and radiologists, as a faculty member for the Australian Institute of Cardiac CT. Dr Ellenberger is employed as a Staff Specialist at Prince of Wales and a Visiting Medical Officer at Sydney Hospital, the Mater Hospital and Eastern Heart Clinic. Dr Ellenberger is committed to improving the health and well-being of her patients. She takes a holistic approach to patient care, which has led to combining her work in both cardiology and general medicine.

Dr Virag Kushwaha
BSc MBBS PhD FRACP
Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Kushwaha is a Senior Staff Cardiologist at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, and leads the complex coronary and structural interventional program at the Eastern Heart Clinic. He is a volunteer cardiologist with the Timor Leste Hearts Fund.

Dr Jenny Yu
BSci (Med) MBBS FRACP Interventional Cardiologist
A/Prof Jennifer Yu is a Staff Specialist Cardiologist at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick and Conjoint Associate Professor at the University of NSW, Sydney. She graduated in Medicine at the University of New South Wales (2004) and completed her Basic Physicians Training and specialist training in Cardiology in the Prince of Wales Hospital network. She undertook Postgraduate Fellowships in New York, NY, USA in Clinical Research (2012) and Interventional Cardiology (2013) both at the Mount Sinai Medical Centre and received the American Heart Association “Best Women in Cardiology Trainee Award for Excellence” (2012). Her PhD (2020, UNSW) examined bleeding complications and reduction strategies in patients undergoing cardiac treatments and interventions. Jennifer accepts referrals in General Cardiology. Particular areas of interest include coronary artery disease, preventative cardiology, heart disease in women and non-traditional cardiovascular risk factors. She is bilingual and offers consultations in both English and Korean.

Dr Rahn Ilsar
MBBS(Hons 1) BSc(Med) FRACP PhD Cardiologist & Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Dr Rahn Ilsar is a Cardiac Electrophysiologist with appointments at the Prince of Wales and St George campuses. He is trained and skilled in arrythmia and syncope assesments, invasive electrophysiological studies and ablations along with cardiac device implantation and management. He consults on Mondays and forms an integral part of the comprehensive specialist service available at Bondi Cardiology.

Dr Liam Back
BMed MSc (Clinical Trials) FRACP
Consultant & Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Liam Back is a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist who graduated from medical school at the University of Newcastle / New England in 2012, obtaining a Bachelor of Medicine with Distinction. Dr Back completed his junior doctor training, basic physicians training, and cardiology advanced training at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick. He achieved his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2020. Following completion of his core cardiology training in Australia, he travelled to the United Kingdom and completed two fellowships in interventional cardiology; the first at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, Wales, and the second at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, England. Both fellowships had a subspecialty focus on complex percutaneous intervention and chronic total occlusion percutaneous intervention. Dr Back achieved a Masters in Clinical Trials Research from the University College London in 2024. He continues to be involved in clinical research with a subspecialty interest in coronary atherosclerosis and bioresorbable stent technology. His other interests include the diagnostic workup of all common cardiac complaints, primary prevention of atherosclerotic disease, and the cardiovascular impact of obesity. Dr Back is a visiting medical officer at Eastern Heart Clinic in Randwick, and has admitting rights at Prince of Wales Private Hospital.

Dr Andrew Anthony Mamo

Consultant Cardiologist
Dr Andrew Anthony Mamo is a Cardiac Imaging Specialist having completed training at Prince of Wales Hospital in complex cardiac ultrasound and continued training at St Vincent’s Advanced Cardiac Imaging Centre in cardiac CT and cardiac MRI. He is well equipped to manage coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathies and heart failure. The signature of his care is a thorough and personalised assessment with careful attention to keeping his patients active, independent and healthy. This is complemented by a focus on preventative measures to protect patients from the common cardiac conditions associated with lifestyle and advancement in age. Andrew’s cardiology career has been varied, working in remote and regional areas such as Alice Springs, Dubbo, Port Macquarie and Darwin, as well as volunteering in The Solomon Islands and Timor Leste. All new referrals are welcomed.
